I bought this ti replace the DVD m grand daughter lost. I am going to buy the other two in this extended format because of added information about the film and characters. It arrived on time and in perfect condition

Don't be afraid to purchase a used DVD from them. I have watched this a few times as it is one of my favorite movies and it was in excellent shape!
I need not tell you if you're reading this how great the trilogy is. The added scenes as well as the behind the scene DVD's on how they created this masterpiece trilogy are fascinating and make you admire the trilogy even more.

The Platinum Series Special Edition, vs the Cardboard Plain Jane Edition, does a better job of telling the story as it more closely follows the original story line and scene sequence. Of course that makes it a longer film, too. A very enjoyable film, the best done to date (07/ 2010) by anyone in a largely live action film.

The Extended Editions of the LOTR films are the definitive editions, and if you're a fan of the films you owe it to yourself to pick them up. Not only do you get the best version of the film, you get an incredible Behind The Scenes story. Also, buy a copy of The Lord of the Films: The Guide to Tolkien's Middle-Earth on the Big Screen which has lots more information to truly give you the best viewing experience. These films are the Wizard of Oz of our generation and will live on forever. Be sure to see them as they were meant to be seen.
